Climate Strategist

Azolla Climate is looking for a proactive and analytical Junior-level Climate Strategist to support our corporate clients in developing and implementing comprehensive decarbonisation strategies. The role will focus on a wide range of climate advisory services, including risk analysis, compliance with evolving market regulations, such as the Cross-Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and carbon pricing, competitor benchmarking, carbon footprint hotspot analysis, decarbonisation budgeting, developing green product declarations (e.g. green labels, environmental declarations/claims), and development of roadmaps and blueprints for climate actions. The ideal candidate will play a key role in identifying decarbonisation solutions and climate project investments, setting science-based climate targets, and helping clients prepare for green financing and offsetting opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Decarbonisation Strategy Development: Collaborate in creating and implementing tailored decarbonisation strategies, covering climate risk assessments, carbon footprint analyses, and competitor benchmarking.
  • Climate Risk & Opportunity Analysis: Evaluate climate-related risks and opportunities, aligning client strategies with global standards like the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and domestic NDC targets.
  • Competitor Benchmarking: Conduct competitor analyses to gauge industry trends and help clients stay competitive in their sustainability efforts.
  • Carbon Footprint Hotspot Analysis: Perform in-depth carbon footprint hotspot analyses to prioritize key areas for emissions reductions and strategic intervention.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Provide support in ensuring clients meet compliance market requirements, such as the Cross-Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and carbon tax frameworks, minimising regulatory risks.
  • Green Product Declarations (Green Labels): Assist in developing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Green Labels to identify products’ environmental impact, supporting clients in achieving market recognition for sustainable products.
  • Identification of Decarbonisation Solutions: Research and recommend decarbonisation solutions and investments in climate projects, such as renewable energy adoption, waste reduction, and carbon offsetting.
  • Decarbonisation Budgeting: Assist in creating cost-effective decarbonisation budgets, ensuring financial viability while maximizing climate impact.
  • Development of Decarbonisation Roadmaps: Support the design of decarbonisation roadmaps, outlining actionable steps for achieving sustainability goals in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Climate Target Setting: Help set climate targets that align with global standards (e.g., SBTi) and national climate goals (NDCs), ensuring long-term sustainability for clients.
  • Green Financing & Project Frameworks: Assist in developing frameworks for accessing green financing opportunities such as green loans/bonds or sustainability-linked loans/bonds, supporting clients in funding decarbonisation initiatives.
  • Offsetting Plans: Help create comprehensive offsetting plans to support clients in balancing their emissions through high-quality impact-driven carbon credits.
  • Implementation & Monitoring: Provide ongoing support to clients in implementing and monitoring their decarbonisation strategies, ensuring projects remain on track and aligned with their climate goals.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Policy, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in sustainability consulting, climate strategy, or environmental analysis (internships or academic projects also applicable).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis and research capabilities, with experience in carbon footprinting, competitor benchmarking, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex climate data and strategies to internal teams and clients.
Desired Attributes:
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a keen interest in sustainability, climate action and a drive to succeed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Team orientation and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting and the latest developments in climate policy.
By joining Azolla Climate, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Contribute to a meaningful cause and make a tangible difference in the battle against climate change.
  • Work with a talented and passionate team of professionals.
  • Benefit from competitive compensation and a supportive work environment.

If you are a highly motivated and results-oriented individual who is passionate about climate action and sustainability, we encourage you to apply.
